Foyer Privacy Policy
Last updated October 27, 2026
In short
Foyer has no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. The developer doesn't collect any of your data: Foyer talks directly to the services you set up.
Stored on this Apple TV
Your settings, passwords and API keys are kept in the Apple TV Keychain. The catalog, watch progress, My List and subtitle timing are stored in the app's own storage on this Apple TV.
Your media server
Foyer signs in to the media server you enter to load its catalog and play its streams. Like with any player, the server can see what you watch.
The Foyer demo
Until you set up your own media server, Foyer plays the demo catalog from demo.getfoyer.tv, a server the developer runs on Cloudflare. The server keeps no logs of what is watched. Cloudflare carries the connection, including your IP address, under its own privacy policy.
Movie information
To match titles and show posters, synopses and ratings, Foyer sends the names of titles in your catalog and of people you look up to TMDB, and to OMDb if you add an OMDb key.
Subtitles
When you look for subtitles, Foyer sends OpenSubtitles.com the title, its TMDB or IMDb number and a fingerprint of the video file, with your OpenSubtitles login if you added one.
Assistant
The Assistant sends nothing until you allow it. After that, what you ask and the names and details of titles in your catalog go to the AI providers you switched on (Anthropic, OpenAI or Google), one at a time, with your own API keys. Switching them off in Settings → Assistant stops this.
Setting up from your phone
The setup page is served by this Apple TV on your local network and only opens with the code in the QR code. What you type there doesn't go through the internet.
Other connections
Foyer downloads a public list of TV channels from iptv-org on GitHub and opens trailers in the YouTube app. No personal data is sent with these.
Other services
TMDB, OMDb, OpenSubtitles.com, your AI provider and your media server handle what they receive under their own privacy policies.
Deleting your data
Settings → Catalog and storage → Reset all settings erases the settings, passwords and keys you entered and withdraws the Assistant's permission. Deleting the app removes everything else.
